McClellan Hall – Old Campus

Overview of McClellan Hall

McClellan Hall, completed in 1924, was one of the final residence halls added to Old Campus as Yale standardized the first-year living experience in the early 20th century. Designed by architect Walter B. Chambers, it was designed to provide symmetry with the only other Georgian building on Old Campus:  Connecticut Hall. The hall gifted by Helen Mynderse McClellan in memory of her late husband, Edwin McClellan ’84. Originally a home for first year students, McClellan today serves as on-campus annex space for Jonathan Edwards College and for other colleges with additional rooming needs.
