Bingham Hall – Old Campus

Overview of Bingham Hall

Bingham Hall, completed in 1928, was one of the last major dormitories added to Old Campus during Yale’s early-20th-century building boom. Designed by architect Walter B. Chambers, it was funded through a gift from Charles W. Bingham ’68, whose family supported several Yale building projects. The building’s Collegiate Gothic style was intentionally crafted to harmonize with the older surrounding halls while providing more modern accommodations for freshmen. For decades it housed first-year students from various colleges and became known for its lively courtyard presence facing the New Haven Green. Today, Bingham remains a staple of the Old Campus residential experience for freshmen students of Trumbull College.
